VHCDC announced today it has formally accepted a single family residence donated by Wells Fargo Bank, N.A. The 926sf, 2 bedroom, 1 bath property, located in the Lakeside Community of the City of Suffolk, jump starts VHCDC's Neighborhood Revitalization Program - an initiative aimed at acquiring and rehabilitating distressed properties in select neighborhoods in Hampton Roads.
VHCDC intends to rehabilitate the property for sale on a first-come, first-served basis to those completing its Home Ownership Assistance Progam. VHCDC launched its Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative to revitalize and enhance the quality, affordability, and efficiency of housing in Virginia’s low- and moderate-income neighborhoods.
According to James R Taylor, VHCDC President, "VHCDC designed its housing development activities to be an integral part of the revitalization and redevelopment of targeted low- and moderate-income neighborhoods, while setting new standards for housing quality, affordability, and energy efficiency. We sincerely appreciate the confidence Wells Fargo has demonstrated in our ability to get the job done."
Hampton Roads residents may follow the progress on this and other project, including photos and other details, by visiting VHCDC's Facebook page.
