Virginia
Housing and Community Development Corporation is a private,
non-profit corporation. It is governed by a Board of
Directors, local residents and experienced business leaders, who
provide policy and direction for the Corporation.
Mission:
Virginia
Housing and Community Development Corporation (VHCDC) will
transform low-income, distressed communities into vibrant places
to live, do business, and work.
Goals and Objectives:

Provide
access to housing and productive resources for low and
moderate-income households and other disadvantaged people;
-
Conduct
public discussion groups, forums, panels, lectures, and
other similar programs designed to educate the public about
the benefits of housing, community and economic development
programs, laws, services, and enactments of government and
non-government entities;

Foster
and support the development of a stable and productive
economic base for low and moderate income communities and
thereby relieve the burden on government;

Create
alternative models of financing for community economic
development that encourage investment by local
organizations, churches, and individual residents,
leveraging the resources of the region, and promoting
greater responsiveness to community and lower income
household needs on the part of traditional and
non-traditional financial institutions; and,

Conserve
and enhance the quality and productivity of housing, land,
and natural resources, while ensuring that disadvantaged and
low and moderate-income people share in their use and
enjoyment thereof.
VHCDC
depends on monetary grants
and donations, in-kind
contributions, and corporate
partners to design, implement, market, and
operate projects and services that assist small
disadvantaged businesses and residents of low-income, distressed
